CUPE 5492 is part of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Canada’s largest union with over 710,000 members across Canada.
CUPE 5492’s 360 plus members work at Mt. Sinai Hospital in downtown Toronto providing vital administrative support in various departments to patients and other hospital staff.
CUPE 5492 members work in many areas important to patient care as:
- ward clerks in many hospital units including mother and baby and the women’s unit
- communication operators
- medical secretaries
- menu clerks and other classifications.
There are two units in CUPE 5492 – one for full-time hospital employees, one for those who work part-time – with two separate collective agreements.
